out of the bag
same pump as last years - same kit
bag is green with some fancy graphics and the zipper has been shortened and so has the extension which means you could cut out the mesh if you wanted
the 'hat' is no longer removable - basically same as last years bag
twister tech - there are a lot of these little black spots on the kite and even into the dacron part and you can see that it does flex it kind of reminds me of discs in your back so it does bend and twist
there are more seams in the LE and i think that makes it smoother
it is interesting because the kite doesn't buckle as easily - it bends on those twister tech spots - you might be able to run less PSI
the kite is a bit longer than the 10m 2008 HP but roughly the same depth - basically the same kite - the struts have been moved inward - bridles look the same
membrane valves in all the struts and the exhaust valve on the main bladder seems a bit better
there are only four knots on the rear lines vice last years 6
so right off the beach on 3rd line with the 55cm bar 23m lines - light winds A-A
light bar pressure and light steering pressure- had a tendency to stall - really tight pivot turns and loops
A-B a bit more wind - better feedback on the bar
rode that way for three hours and wind kept getting better
the theme on this kite is turning - twister tech must work because it takes much less energy to turn this kite - it turns faster and tighter than a 2008 10 HP
jumping - it jumps better in less wind because it can change directions faster - so you get better sent jumps - float is about the same - but that secondary lift is easier to get
turning - much easier to turn - reminded me of a bularoo 10m where i could turn with one arm again- what's more it can turn well even depowered - chicken kite loops are very doable
upwind- the kite does fly more to the side and is very good upwind kite - but what is really noticed was i could get faster board speed - so faster board speed - quicker redirect = better jumps
wave riding - because of its fast turning - it was very good in waves - it was also easy to control the power in a turn - a 2008 HP you have to pull in the bar to turn - 2009 you can control you speed in a turn
kite loops - i aint no expert but the 2008 HP has this one spot that really rips you horizontal - cracked rib to prove it- the 2009 is smoother and you have the option of doing a chicken kite loop - you can decide which is better
stalling - if there is a problem with the 2009 it is easier to stall - and i have typically run so i could get really good tension on the rear lines to get good steering - but with the 2009 i dont think it needs it - also it seems to have shorter range required for power/depower - given i have long arms -
i might have to increase the size of my chicken loop - which is non standard setup so i can decrease my throw
relaunch? haven't a clue - it did not get wet
random thoughts - the kite turns up very well - better than the 2008 HP
the 2008 HP took some effort to start moving the 2009 just starts moving right away - so sining the 2009 was a big slow sine - the 2008 you can do whatever you want
in fact the 2009 is more of a flier kite - keep it moving and what's more it can move
you will get the most benefit from the kite if you throw it around
A-B has a bit more bar pressure than A-A on the 2008 - and A-A has bit less than A-A on the 2008 - i think i would like to play with that some more
clearing waves - i really like the ability to pop a jump over waves and this kite is great at doing that - that means you can pull the bar down with it over head and get some height - some kites are all send it jumps and get no pop that way
summary - love the kite
and finally - props to Kinsely Wong xtreme big air for putting up with me as a customer -
definitely if you are buying Best you should buy from him

Just thought i would drop a line and say i really love the new HP 10m.
i went through a couple of days where it just seemed to have no low end and then bang - it all came together
i think the bridle stretched out a bit, i got used to it, and finally got the lines setup
i am now on A-A using the last knot away from the kite -
A-B is pretty good too but is too hard on my joints for long sessions
love how it turns and loops and is wonderful in the waves - relaunch is a breeze in light winds and it seems to jump pretty good - goes upwind in really light wind
just a fun kite
anyway, thanks again for working with me on this kite.
